Dr. Ian Clancy graduated from Applied Physics in the University of Limerick with a first class honours degree and top of the college of science in 1999. He was awarded an advanced scholarship and undertook a PhD researching a computational model of earthquakes. This research included aspects of condensed matter physics and critical systems, nonlinear dynamical systems, complexity, and statistical data analysis. He is currently researching the application of data-mining techniques to determine genetic markers that will discriminate between different subtypes of acute childhood leukaemia.
