Magali Forget graduated in France with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the Institut Superieur de Technologie of Toulouse in 2004. As part of her training and for duration of three years, Magali received a professional experience in the aeronautical company LIEBHERR SA in Toulouse where she was in charge of bench test development. After her graduation and because of her desire to diversify her domain of expertise, Magali joined Stokes Research Institute in September 2004 for a PhD in Microfluidics under the Marie Curie European Postgraduate Scholarship for Early Stage Training (2004-2007).
PhD Project title: Biofluidic Injection and Mixing in Early Stage Diagnosis of Childhood Leukemia
Control of fluids at the microscale represents an important point of interest in the widely studied field of Microfluids. In fact, most of the biological and medical research undergone would benefit from Microfluidics solutions. One of the engineering challenges brought about by this technologic evolution involves the dispensing and the mixing of fluids at these scales. Magali’s PhD project consists of the development of a novel dispenser-mixer of Biofluids which would find its first application in the measurement of multi-gene expression levels as part of cancer diagnosis. Magali’s first interest in this regard is on the characterisation of a specific geometry first introduced for this application by Stokes Research Institute, termed ‘Liquid Bridge’.
