Design consultancy and testing were carried out for the Irish division of a multinational provider of telecommunications equipment. Thermal consultancy was performed on an indoor air-cooled cabinet, and additional tests were performed on heat sink modules within the system to optimise their thermal performance and pressure-flow characteristics.     Consultancy was provided to optimise the thermal performance of a fan-cooled network switch system for the Irish division of a US-based provider of networking solutions. Modifications were made to the mechanical design of the fan tray in order to enhance the airflow, improving the system reliability. The airflow within the system was characterised in order to provide the basis for future applications.
